Communicating with all stakeholders

  • Communicate well (with written, IT and spoken communication), relate to all users of the building, and to Members and Attenders of the Local Quaker Meeting
  • Demonstrate patience and good listening skills
  • Work enthusiastically and form effective and constructive working relationships across the whole Quaker Meeting and the Meeting House community

Working effectively and efficiently

  • Work methodically, ensuring tasks are completed in a timely
    fashion and that good records are kept
  • Show commercial acumen, managing a busy hiring business
  • Handle petty cash and use basic spreadsheets for invoicing and book-keeping
  • Use initiative appropriately
  • Oversee staff including cleaners, give direction to contractors such as builders, electricians and plumbers
  • Ensure the physical security of the building
  • Ensure that hirers leave rooms as specified
  • Move light furniture around in preparing rooms for meetings if necessary
  • Use computer programs – email, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google applications
  • Balance conflicting pressures and demands, cope with the unexpected and relate to (and sometimes manage) difficult people
